James J. Hooker Monument, Spring Grove Cemetery

James Johnston Hooker was an owner of Putnam, Hooker, and Company, a cotton goods merchant.  He was born in Mt. Carmel, Ohio, in 1946, and died in Cincinnati in 1916.  His home was at 3639 Reading Road in Avondale.  It was demolished to make way for the 1928 construction of the Commodore Apartments.   The James J.
